BRINGING EXISTING SOLUTIONS TO THE PLACES WHERE THEY ARE NEEDED.
PURE GLASS. PURE WATER.
The amount of untreated plastic waste increases dramatically worldwide. In many countries plastic waste cannot be managed in an environmentally friendly and sustainable way. Especially in Southeast Asia, with a rising number of inhabitants and visitors, the pressure on the living environment is extremely high.
On the island of Koh Kood, Thailand, locals say that an outstanding proportion of plastic litter are plastic bottles which can be found all over the island.
At glassic we are fighting plastic pollution by tackling it directly at its cause. With innovative products such as the reusable glass bottle we establish a sustainable and affordable alternative to plastic products for the tourism industry.
Our first project is taking place on the island of Koh Kood near the shore of east Thailand. Here, as everywhere in this region, plastic pollution causes tremendous social and environmental problems. The most efficient way to reduce plastic pollution is recycling, yet in south-east Asia the waste management is not good enough to handle great amounts of plastic. We searched for a simple substitute that is the best solution for this specific environment, and we found it in the fabric of glass. Packagings made out of glass always ensure the best preservation but also optimal sustainability, since glass can be infinitely recycled without loosing quality. That is why we chose to integrate glass bottles as our pilot project.
